Launch of a National Program for Diagnosis and Treatment of ANCA-Associated Vasculitis in Saudi Arabia

The Saudi Ministry of Health has launched a national program aimed at improving the diagnosis and treatment of ANCA-associated vasculitis, in collaboration with leading hospitals and medical universities across the Kingdom. The initiative is part of broader efforts to enhance care for patients with rare and complex diseases, ensuring precise and effective treatment plans.

The program emphasizes early detection using advanced laboratory tests and imaging technologies to achieve accurate diagnosis in the disease’s initial stages. Multidisciplinary teams comprising rheumatologists, nephrologists, pulmonologists, and hematologists will provide comprehensive and specialized care for patients.

In addition, the program supports clinical research to develop innovative therapies and monitor the effectiveness of recent treatments, including TAVNEOS® (Avacopan) and other modern immunomodulatory therapies. The Ministry of Health stated that the program will improve patients’ quality of life and reduce complications associated with the disease.

The initiative also includes workshops and training sessions for physicians and nurses to enhance medical skills and ensure practical application of treatment protocols, providing high-quality patient care throughout the Kingdom.
